£230,000 Tory TV Flop

by John Shaw on 8 November, 2012

Last year County Council Tories agreed to spend £230,000 televising meetings so that residents could view them via internet. Ron Hussey and the Lib Dem councillors objected to this waste of Council Tax. Surprisingly Labour didn’t object.
Called the Ken TV channel, it has been working since February when 800 residents tuned in to watch a Council meeting. But by May viewing figures had dropped to just 108. It’s now been renamed the Snooze channel.
The Lib Dems have blasted the Tories for wasting £230,000 whilst making 1,400 staff redundant.
But one Tory cabinet member doesn’t think it’s a flop. He’s quite chuffed that his daughter (who lives in Hong Kong) now watches her dad on TV.
